30th November 2003 (Speedway)

Last Friday night I went to the Weymouth Wildcats Presentation evening and I won an award for 'Team Man of the Year'.  I'd like to say thank you for your votes to all the Wildcats fans and the Dorset Echo readers.

I'm hoping that I'll be on good form next season if I get a team place.  At the moment I'm trying to get a new speedway bike and a new frame kit for next year.

15th October 2003 (Grasstrack)

This year it seems to have been an experience year for me on my 500cc where I was expecting to get better on it and get more experience on it.  But it turned out that after 4 meetings my engine had been written off.  Then I was lent an engine for the Masters qualifier by Roger Maynard and I did well on it - I came 11th on it.  Then I got help from my mum and dad to buy a new engine but it was the first time I had my engine tuned better than the standard Jawa engine and I used it the first time at the British Under 21 championships and again the engine went well and I came 7th overall.  Then I started to stay on one engine that mum and dad got for me, then I tried the new carb which really made a different to the normal carb I have always been using.  And again I had to learn quickly using different things.  After a couple of meetings I was asked to try out the BRM frame from Roger Maynard with the Jawa engine in it from the Masters qualifier.  Then I was lent the frame again for one more time with my engine.  So what can I say - it was a year of a lot of experiences for me.  In the end I found the BRM frame made me feel more comfortable and having the tuned engine has made me do well this year.  So luckily I did well this year and I learnt things on the bike more quickly, so I am pleased with my performance this year.

I'd like to say thanks to everyone that helped me with my racing, especially Roger Maynard, and for all the support, let's hope I race even better next year - so watch out and let's hope!!

15th October 2003 (Speedway)

This year in Speedway I wasn't really thinking about going back on the bike to do speedway meetings after a long 3 years not riding it much.  I have to really say a big thanks to Graham Arnold (who runs the Iwade track) who asked me to ride at a meeting at Iwade which really made my speedway come back alive!!  After I had done about 2-3 practices early on the season I did well in the first meeting and I'm pleased that I managed to get my act together.  Then suddenly I had been asked to ride for the Weymouth Wildcats team after my performance at the Iwade meeting.  Again I did quite well for the Weymouth Wildcats and they kept asking me to ride for other meeting.  Because my speedway came back alive I decided to get my speedway engine rebuilt and tuned for the first time to better than the standard Jawa engine - but somehow it had been below the standard Jawa engine all the time I had been riding it before.  I'm quite surprised that somehow I managed to do well on it this season before I had it tuned as it was quite below the standard engine.  After it was tuned I felt it had more power but again it's a big step to learn on a new tuned engine.  So again it was a good year for getting racing experience and I did it quite quickly.  So I'm pleased with my performance this year.

Again I'd like to say a big thank you to Graham Arnold who made my speedway come back alive because luckily I did well and picked up the interest in me from other speedway clubs.  I'd also like to say thank you to the Weymouth Wildcats for asking me to ride for them which lead to me continuing to bring my speedway alive.  I'd also like to say thank you to everyone who supported me and helped to bring my speedway back in action.
